Storefront update and some sexy bit**es!

I’ve been getting a ton of emails and questions as to what our storefront status is so… here’s a little update. We’ve been working our butts off getting all of our ‘ducks in a row’ so to speak. We’re in the process of getting all our permits signed off by the proper people, ordering all our kitchen equipment and finding people to help out with other miscellaneous things we need done to make the shop function.

We’re hoping to be up and running by the first week of July assuming everything continues to go smoothly.

With that said, one of the things we’ve been working on organizing is a photo shoot for the press and for YOU! We’ve got an amazing photographer lined up as well as 3 insanely beautiful models to represent Cinnaholic.

Here’s a sneak peek at WHO we’ve got in store. Stay tuned for WHAT we’ve got in store next!

The Sweet Shoppe Festival @ Jack London Square!

CALLING ALL VEGAN BAKERS!

Recently we were contacted by an event organizer for the 1st ever Oakland Sweet Shoppe Festival. What the hell is that you say?
“The Sweet Shoppe is Northern California’s premiere celebration of all that is sweet. The two-day indoor confectionery festival celebrates our regions pastry chefs, confectioners, cupcake fairies, local restaurants, specialty vendors, vintners and more.”

Seriously? A whole weekend surrounded by sugar? Does life get any better?!

It’s time for vegan bakers to UNITE! If you are a confectioner or a vegan baker with a certified kitchen, I highly recommend participating in this. Since it’s not all vegan, we need to get some of our best bakers in there to represent! Long story short, after doing some calculations and taking some other personal obligations into account, we sadly had to pass on the opportunity to participate this year. We’re really hoping to jump in next year though.

If you’re interested in participating, check out the website and contact Consuelo – the super awesome organizer. Hurry though, deadlines are coming up quick!

Where?
Jack London Square
When?
Saturday, May 8th 2010 from 11am – 10pm and Sunday, May 9th 2010  from 11am – 6pm.

Hope to see some of you guys there during our scavenger hunt for vegan chocolate!

Recap of the East Bay Vegan Bakesale + new flavors!!!

Last week was a pretty exciting (and terrifying) week for us. Before the ink was even dry on our lease, we started getting email alerts about press articles being released by SF Weekly, VegNews and the SF Bay Guardian announcing our store front grand opening coming up in July. Of course, we squealed with excitement like 12 year old girls. Then, reality set in. Now we must embark on the dreaded journey of the PERMIT PROCESS. We’re crossing our fingers and saying our prayers hoping that it’s not going to be as bad as we think it is. PLEASE, GOD.

All exciting/terrifying news aside, it was time to get back to baking for the next East Bay Vegan Bakesale in front of Issues Magazine in Oakland on Saturday. We decided to go with our Old Fashioned, Mocha Almond, Peanut Butter & Jelly and our new Oreo Cookie roll!

Despite the fact the crowd was a little slower this time, all 4 dozen were gone in about an hour. Not too bad, eh? I have no idea who made the vegan version of the Cadbury Creme Eggs, but I want to keep you chained as a prisoner in my kitchen and make you mass produce them for me daily. If they weren’t $2 a pop, I would have bought them all. In fact, I was very close to shoveling the entire tray into my purse in hopes that no one would see me sneak off with them. Next time, I suppose.

As always, the lovely Fat Bottom Bakery girls did a fantastic job organizing the event and raised an impressive $1,200 for Animal Place Sanctuary and the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund.

Sunday was our semi-relaxing day. Our wedding planner Karine placed an order for a dozen rolls so we decided to play around with our recipe a little bit and try out one of our newer flavors… APPLE PIE! And yes, it tasted as good as it looks.

All I can say is, what a rad week!

Wondering where to find us next? Check out our CBS 5 News mention! We’ll be servin’ up tasty samples in a variety of delicious flavors on Wednesday, April 7th at SF Weekly’s ‘1st Annual Web Awards‘ at 111 Minna. Best part? It’s FREE! So get yourself on the guest-list NOW by emailing sfwrsvp[at]sfweekly.com!

See you on April 7th!

East Bay Vegan Bakesale – Round deuce!

As most of you know, life is CRAZY for us right now. Between holding down a full time job, going to school, filling bakery orders, planning our wedding and marathon training, we barely have time to breathe! I told the hubs it was time to take a break from all the bakesale’s and charity stuff for a minute. This beezy needs some SLEEP!

Then I saw this ADORABLE flyer. By far, the raddest one yet. LOVE the new logo!

The uber awesome ladies of Fat Bottom Bakery asked if we were interested in contributing and of course, I couldn’t resist.

So…. it  looks like we’ll be seeing  you at the next East Bay Vegan Bakesale in front of Issues on Saturday, March 20th!

Cat Cookie – FAIL!

A couple weeks ago a good friend of mine asked if I would mind making a bunch of baked goods to use as props for a movie he was working on. Of course, I agreed because my friend is awesome. He wanted a dozen brownies, 2 dozen chocolate chip cookies, a dozen cinnamon rolls and a dozen cat shaped cookies. I thought, ‘Sure, no problem’. I got through the majority of it just fine. That is, until I got to the cat cookies.

They looked like cats going in…. but looked more like elephants coming out. Maybe it was the wine, (that’s what I’m going with) or maybe I just really suck at making cat cookies.

The moral of the story? Don’t bake and drink. Or ever ask me to make you cat cookies.

PETA Pack Bakesale!

As most of you know (from my repetitive Facebook and Twitter posts asking for your money), I’ve been training with the PETA Pack for the last couple of months in order to prepare for the Oakland Half Marathon in March.

Why am I running? To raise money to stop animal suffering fool!

This is my first attempt at a half marathon EVER. Last Sunday I managed to huff and puff my way through 10 freakin’ miles and was feeling pretty good about life when I was done. Monday morning, that was a different story. I somehow jacked up my hip and I’ve been hobbling around like a 90 year old lady for the past week. No bueno.

Saturday, March 13th, the PETA Pack will be taking a break (THANKYOUGOD) to set up shop in front of the PETA office in Oakland and sell our baked goods. The proceeds will go to the investigations and rescue fund which means you can feel good about shoving all those cinnamon rolls in your mouth!

If supporting good causes and animals isn’t your thing, at least come buy some baked goods out of pity for my 90 year old broken hip. Or even better… help me reach my fund-raising goal HERE. By donating directly, this entitles you to be ‘loved forever’ by me.

See you March 13th!
